The Fishers Maker Playground is a 15,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, public makerspace at the Fishers Parks Headquarters (located in west Fishers, just off the Nickel Plate Trail). This Fishers Parks' makerspace offers a space filled with tools, technology, and arts to encourage imagination, curiosity, engineering, building, and more.

At the Maker Playground, members and visitors will find a wood shop, metal shop, CNC machine, 3D Printer, laser engraver, computers, tools, and supplies to cut, form, and create.

While the Maker Playground welcomes maker members ages 14+, we will be partnering with educators, artists, and industry leaders in the community to introduce hands-on learning through programs, camps, and activities to younger future makers.

What is a Maker Space?

A Maker Space is a community of makers who are driven to create & collaborate on a design or project using hands on techniques, sometimes combined with the latest technology, to complete a project or improve things that already exist.

Maker Spaces are equipped with various tools, software, machinery, and technology depending on the community’s needs. It is a place where you’ll see hands-on, project-based learning, and where we’ll turn S.T.E.A.M. based (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) experimenting into real life solutions.

Who is a Maker?

Whether you’re a beginner or professional, a maker is a person who is exploring everyday items to craft new solutions and designs. A group of makers creates a thriving community of collaboration and ideas shared among its members.

Along with the more traditional audience of programmers, engineers, designers, artists, crafters who are typically drawn to makerspaces, Fishers Parks is expanding the term to be inclusive and accessible to the entire community.
