Household Heroes

Are you a novice when it comes to household repairs and maintenance? Would you like to avoid calling a handy-man when something goes wrong at home? Our Household Heroes classes are designed to provide you with instruction and the skills to fix simple household projects on your own. Expect to learn how to repair drywall, plumbing fixes, basic electrical wiring, tool usage, and more!

No Maker Playground membership required. This class is open to all regardless of skill and expertise! We will supply all necessary tools and instruction. Maker Playground Members receive a 50% discount to enroll in any Household Heroes classes.


February 21: Simple Electrical Wiring

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Ages 16+ | $20 per person
Learn by completing a simple wiring project like outlets or dimmer switches using the following tools: wire cutters/strippers, screwdrivers, and receptacle testers.

March 20: Power Tool Basics

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Ages 16+ | $20 per person
Learn your way around common household power tools! In this session, we'll break down how each tool works and what types of home projects can be completed with these tools.

April 17: Picture Hanging

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Ages 16+ | $20 per person
In this session, learn how to hang picture frames, mirrors, and floating shelves, find studs in a wall, hang one-point, two-point, and anchor frames, and level.

May 15: Toilet Trouble

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Ages 16+ | $20 per person
In this session, learn how to fix a running or leaking toilet, install a fill valve, flush valve, and flapper, adjust the float screw, and recognize and fix common problems.

June 19: Drywall Repair

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Ages 16+ | $20 per person
Become a pro at making drywall repairs of all sizes in your home. Learn the basics of patching drywall, from learning about materials, sizing and cutting, using plaster and drywall mud, and more.

July 17: Cut & Install Molding

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Ages 16+ | $20 per person
Learn how to cut and install various types of molding, including crown, casing, baseboard, and stop molding.
