Fourth of July celebration begins in Fishers this week with Spark!Fishers festival
Fishers, IN – The second-annual Spark!Fishers festival, ignited by First Internet Bank, returns to the Nickel Plate District in the heart of downtown Fishers this weekend. The celebration is packed full of family-favorites and Independence Day traditions, while showcasing our local veterans, community spirit, and what it means to be uniquely Fishers.
The day-long festival on Saturday, June 29 includes a 5K Walk/Run; the award-winning Fishers Farmers’ Market; an Artisan Fair; a Street Festival featuring 130 local vendors and three entertainment stages; a patriotic parade through downtown Fishers; and a dazzling fireworks show to cap off the celebration!
Preview the festivities tonight, June 27, with a free concert featuring the Jazz Ambassadors—the United States Army Field Band— at 7 p.m. in the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater. This 19-member ensemble has earned it the title “America’s Big Band” and their repertoire includes big band swing, bebop, Latin, contemporary jazz, standards, popular tunes, Dixieland, vocals, and patriotic selections, many of which are written or arranged by members of the Jazz Ambassadors.
On Friday evening, kick off the weekend with a free concert featuring national recording artists Vertical Horizon and Tonic in the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater. The concert is free, but tickets are required. Tickets are available first come, first served at the Fishers Parks & Recreation Office (11565 Brooks School Road) and at the Fishers Parks & Recreation tent tonight at the Jazz Ambassadors concert.
